On the morning of October 28, 2026, Mrs. Chea Thida and her family visited the Documentation Center of Cambodia’s (DC-Cam), the Urn Library at Wat Langka Preah Kossamakaram in Phnom Penh to pay respect to the ashes of her late husband, Mr. Ing Sokha. The family paid their respects, requested forgiveness, and invited Venerable Huor Sarith—Deputy Abbot of Wat Langka and a Royal Monk of the Fourth Ecclesiastical Rank—to conduct a traditional Buddhist memorial chanting ceremony. The ceremony was held prior to transferring the ashes from the Urn Library for burial in his hometown in Baray District, Kampong Thom Province.

In 1984, Ing Sokha received a scholarship through the National Radio of Cambodia to pursue studies in the People’s Republic of Bulgaria. He was originally from Cha Or Village, Baray District, Kampong Thom Province.

In September 2, 1988, Ing Sokha tragically died in a train accident in Bulgaria at the age of 31. Upon learning of his death, Mrs. Chea Thida requested assistance from the National Radio of Cambodia to repatriate his remains, which arrived back in Phnom Penh in early 1988.

Mrs. Chea Thida married Ing Sokha in 1981. At that time, he served as the Director of the National Radio Department in Phnom Penh.

More than 30 years after losing track of her husband’s remains, Mrs. Chea Thida was finally able to locate Ing Sokha’s ashes. His ashes were among those preserved in the Urn Library established by the Documentation Center of Cambodia at Wat Langka Preah Kossamakaram. The urn library contains a total of 464 urns. These urns contain the remains of individuals whose ashes were left behind during the periods of civil war in Cambodia, particularly throughout the 1970s and 1990s.
