“If I am no longer alive, please take good care of yourself and our children. I must defend the country. You and our children should flee to a safe place because this fighting is more intense than in 2008,” Piseth (Raset)’s last words to his wife.
“He is my hero because he defended and sacrificed his life for the nation. He wanted to pass on this heroic example to his sons, wanting to see at least one of them join the military,” Raset’s wife stated.
In Islamic belief, dying in battle for one’s country, or more specifically, “in the cause of Allah,” is considered martyrdom (shahid/shaheed). This carries significant religious merit, with the promise of forgiveness of sins, reward in the afterlife, and a special place in Paradise.
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَمْوَٰتًا ۚ بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ. فَرِحِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
“Never think of those martyred in the cause of Allah as dead. In fact, they are alive with their Lord, well provided for—rejoicing in Allah’s bounties and being delighted for those yet to join them. There will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.”

Prak Piseth, also known as Tin Raset, 43, was as an intelligence officer in Division 8 at the Border Protection area in Preah Vihear province. He was born in Prek Saman, Chlong district, Kratie province. He got married to Dy Lina and had four children.
Prak Piseth was the name his wife gave him when he wanted to join the army. The name change was because he was afraid that his Cham name would not be accepted. So he and his wife looked for a Khmer name. Lina recalls, “Because he really wanted to join the army and didn’t want to be rejected because of his name. I suggested that he name himself Prak Piseth because Piseth is similar to Raset.” He agreed.”
Raset joined the military in 2006 when his first son was still a toddler learning to sit. His wife said that Raset loved military uniforms and military look very much. He always ironed the uniforms neatly. This brave look inspired him to serve the army and defend Cambodian sovereignty. She recalled, “He asked me, ‘I wanted to join the army, what do you think? Can you stay alone and take care of our son? We need to defend the country from being invaded. If we die, we die for the nation in dignity.’” Even though the first child was still very little, Lina did not object to his proposal, but supported him. After joining the army, he was sent to Preah Vihear at the Border Protection area in 2006. A year later, she visited him and stayed there for three months and then returned to Kratie province. After a while, she decided to live with him in Preah Vihear. She stayed there until August 7, 2025.
Lina recalls, “My husband really liked sports, especially volleyball. He was always proud to be a soldier,” Lina recalled. “He was a patient man, and his heart was always with the soldiers.” She continued, “My husband was my hero. He wanted to pass on this heroic example to his children, wanting to see at least one of his sons join the army like him.”
On July 24, Lina said in Preah Vihear I heard the sound of gunfire starting from the Thai side. Our Khmer soldiers were very patient. Only then did our Khmer soldiers respond. Her husband asked her and her children to leave for a safe place because the fighting was more intense than in 2008. Lina told her husband that she had evacuated the children to a safe place and not to worry. However, she herself did not leave, preferring to stay there and wait for her husband.
On July 25, Raset and the Cambodian army fought fiercely with the enemy at the Battle of Phnom Troap. Thai soldiers dropped a number of cluster bombs on Phnom Troap, killing and wounding several Cambodian soldiers. Three soldiers, including Raset, appeared to be falling off the mountain when the bombs fell on the mountain. A wounded soldier who survived the fall saw Raset falling off with other soldiers.
After the ceasefire agreement came into effect on July 28, the search for the missing soldiers began. Lina tried to inquire about Rashet from the division commander. After several attempts, on August 5, the division commander announced that Rashet had died. An Islamic funeral was held on Friday, August 8, a holy day for Muslims after Mr. Yob Askary, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Cults and Religion called on the Imams of the capital, provinces, cities, districts, khans, and mosques nationwide to organize a prayer for the deceased in the Islamic religion in their respective mosques nationwide for the hero of the Khmer Islamic army, Tin Raset, also known as Prak Piseth, who was sacrificed on the front line against the invasion of the enemy after Friday prayers today.
In addition, the Imams of the mosque of Chheuteal Pluos village, Chhlong district, Kratie province, also organized the same in the hometown of the hero of Cham Muslim soldier. He also requested that a grand ceremony be organized and requested that all the villagers of Prek Saman join in worshipping in large numbers to honor and ask Allah to accept the good deeds and forgiveness of the Khmer-Islamic martyrs and to include them in Paradise.

Roset is one of the many Cambodian heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation. May the bravery and sacrifice of all Cambodian soldiers remain in our memories forever, and may this sacrifice inspire the Cambodian army to defeat the enemy anywhere and anytime and may Cambodia have real peace soon.

ប្រពន្ធ រ៉សេត បញ្ជាក់ថា: «គាត់គឺជាវីរបុរសរបស់ខ្ញុំ ពីព្រោះគាត់បានការពារជាតិនិងលះបង់ជីវិតដើម្បីជាតិ។ គាត់ចង់ឲ្យគំរូនៃភាពអង់អាចនេះបានទៅដល់កូនៗ ដោយចង់ឲ្យកូនប្រុស យ៉ាងហោចណាស់ម្នាក់ចូលធ្វើទាហានបម្រើជាតិ»។

ប្រាក់ ពិសិដ្ឋ ហៅ ទីន រ៉សេត អាយុ៤៣ឆ្នាំ មានមុខងារជាទាហានស៊ើបការសម្ងាត់ នៅក្នុងកងពលលេខ៨ ប្រចាំការនៅតំបន់ការពារព្រំដែន ខេត្តព្រះវិហារ។ គាត់កើតនៅឃុំព្រែកសាម៉ាន់ ស្រុកឆ្លូង ខេត្តក្រចេះ។ គាត់រៀបការជាមួយ ឌី លីណា និងមានកូន៤នាក់។
ប្រាក់ ពិសិដ្ឋ គឺជាឈ្មោះដែលប្រពន្ធគាត់ដាក់ឲ្យនៅពេលដែលគាត់ចង់ចូលបម្រើទ័ព។ ការដូរឈ្មោះនេះក៏ព្រោះតែគាត់បារម្ភក្រែងឈ្មោះជាខ្មែរអ៊ិស្លាមរបស់គាត់មិនត្រូវបានទទួលយក។ ដូច្នេះហើយ គាត់និងប្រពន្ធក៏រកឈ្មោះខ្មែរ។ លីណា រំឭកថា «ដោយសារគាត់ចង់ចូលទ័ពខ្លាំង ហើយមិនចង់ឲ្យគេបដិសេធ ដោយសារតែឈ្មោះរបស់គាត់។ ខ្ញុំឲ្យយោបល់គាត់ថា ដាក់ឈ្មោះ ប្រាក់ ពិសិដ្ឋ ទៅ ពីព្រោះ ពិសិដ្ឋ ស្រដៀង រ៉សេត ដែរ»។ គាត់ក៏យល់ស្រប»។
រ៉សេត បានចូលបម្រើកងទ័ពនៅឆ្នាំ២០០៦ នៅពេលកូនប្រុសទី១របស់គាត់ទើបតែចេះអង្គុយ។ ប្រពន្ធរបស់គាត់និយាយថា រ៉សេត ស្រឡាញ់សម្លៀកបំពាក់និងចរិតលក្ខណៈទាហានខ្លាំងណាស់។ សម្លៀកបំពាក់បែបនិងលក្ខណៈសម្បត្តិនេះមើលទៅក្លាហានអង់អាច ហើយដែលបានជំរុញចិត្តគាត់ឲ្យចូលបម្រើទាហានដើម្បីការពារទឹកដី។ «គាត់បានសួរយោបល់ខ្ញុំថា ‘បងចង់ចូលធ្វើទាហាន តើអូនគិតយ៉ាងម៉េចដែរ? តើអូនអាចមើលថែកូនតែឯងបានទេ? បងត្រូវការពារជាតិកុំឲ្យសត្រូវឈ្លានពាន។ ប្រសិនបើយើងស្លាប់ យើងស្លាប់ក្នុងនាមជាតិ ដោយសេចក្តីថ្លៃថ្នូរ’។ គាត់អ៊ុតសម្លៀកបំពាក់យ៉ាងស្អាត មិនឲ្យខ្ញុំខ្វល់ខ្វាយទេ»។
ទោះបីកូនរបស់គាត់នៅតូច លីណា មិនបានជំទាស់នឹងការស្នើសុំរបស់ប្តីគាត់ទេ គាត់បានគាំទ្រ។ បន្ទាប់ពីចូលបម្រើកងទ័ព គាត់ត្រូវបានបញ្ជូនទៅតំបន់ការពារព្រំដែនខេត្តព្រះវិហារ នៅឆ្នាំ២០០៦។ មួយឆ្នាំក្រោយមក ប្រពន្ធគាត់បានទៅសួរសុខទុក្ខនិងស្នាក់នៅជាមួយគាត់រយៈពេល៣ខែ។ បន្ទាប់មក ប្រពន្ធគាត់ក៏វិលត្រឡប់មកខេត្តក្រចេះវិញ។ មួយរយៈក្រោយមក ប្រពន្ធរបស់គាត់បានសម្រេចចិត្តទៅរស់នៅជាមួយប្តីរបស់គាត់នៅខេត្តព្រះវិហារ។ លីណា បានស្នាក់នៅទីនោះរហូតដល់ថ្ងៃទី៧ ខែសីហា ឆ្នាំ២០២៥។
លីណា បានរំឭកថា «ប្តីរបស់ខ្ញុំចូលចិត្តកីឡាណាស់ ជាពិសេសកីឡាបាល់ទះ។ គាត់តែងតែមានមោទនភាពក្នុងនាមជាទាហានម្នាក់»។ គាត់ជាមនុស្សអត់ធ្មត់ ហើយចិត្តរបស់គាត់ដក់ជាប់តែជាមួយកងទ័ពជានិច្ច»។ គាត់បន្តថា «ប្តីរបស់ខ្ញុំជាវីរបុរសរបស់ខ្ញុំ។ គាត់ចង់ឲ្យគំរូវីរភាពនេះបន្តដល់កូនគាត់ ដោយចង់ឃើញកូនប្រុសរបស់គាត់ យ៉ាងហោចណាស់ម្នាក់ចូលបម្រើទ័ពដូចគាត់»។
នៅថ្ងៃទី២៤ ខែកក្កដា ប្តីរបស់គាត់បានស្នើឲ្យគាត់និងកូនៗចាកចេញទៅរកកន្លែងសុវត្ថិភាព ដោយសារការប្រយុទ្ធគ្នាលើកនេះខ្លាំងជាងសមរភូមិឆ្នាំ២០០៨។ លីណា បានប្រាប់ប្តីគាត់ថា គាត់បានជន្លៀសកូនៗទៅកាន់កន្លែងមានសុវត្ថិភាព ហើយកុំឲ្យគាត់បារម្ភ។ ចំណែក លីណា ផ្ទាល់មិនបានចាកចេញទៅណាទេ គាត់សុខចិត្តនៅទីនោះរង់ចាំប្តីរបស់គាត់។
នៅថ្ងៃទី២៥ ខែកក្កដា រ៉សេត និងកងទ័ពកម្ពុជា បានប្រយុទ្ធជាមួយសត្រូវនៅសមរភូមិភ្នំទ្រព្យយ៉ាងខ្លាំង។ ទាហានថៃបានទម្លាក់គ្រាប់បែកចង្កោមជាច្រើននៅលើភ្នំទ្រព្យ បានបណ្តាលឲ្យទាហានកម្ពុជាស្លាប់និងរបួសមួយចំនួន។ កងទ័ពបីនាក់ រួមទាំង រ៉សេត បានហាក់ចុះពីលើភ្នំនៅពេលគ្រាប់បែកទម្លាក់មកលើភ្នំ។ ទាហានម្នាក់ដែលរងរបួសនិងបានរស់រានមានជីវិតពីការលោតចុះពីលើភ្នំបានឃើញ រ៉សេត លោតចុះមកជាមួយទាហានផ្សេងទៀត។
បន្ទាប់ពីកិច្ចព្រមព្រៀងឈប់បាញ់ចូលជាធរមាននៅថ្ងៃទី២៨ ខែកក្កដា ការស្វែងរកទាហានដែលបាត់ខ្លួនបានចាប់ផ្តើម។ លីណា បានព្យាយាមសាកសួរអំពីដំណឹងរបស់ រ៉សេត ពីប្រធានកងពល។ បន្ទាប់ពីការស្វែងរកអស់ច្រើនដងរួចមក នៅថ្ងៃទី៥ ខែសីហា ប្រធានកងពលបានប្រកាសថា រ៉សេត ទទួលមរណៈភាពហើយ។ ពិធីបុណ្យសពតាមសាសនាអ៊ិស្លាមត្រូវបានប្រារព្ធឡើងនៅថ្ងៃសុក្រ ទី៨ ខែសីហា ដែលជាថ្ងៃពិសិដ្ឋរបស់សាសនិកអ៊ិស្លាម បន្ទាប់ពីលោក យោប អះស្ការី រដ្ឋលេខាធិការក្រសួងធម្មការ និងសាសនា បានអំពាវនាវដល់ គណៈអ៊ីម៉ាំ រាជធានី-ខេត្ត ក្រុង ស្រុក ខណ្ឌ និងគណៈអ៊ីម៉ាំម៉ាស្ជិតទូទាំងប្រទេស រៀបចំសឡាត់ជើណាហ្សះហ្គែប (ថ្វាយបង្គំជូនពរជ័យដល់សពក្នុងផ្លូវសាសនាអ៊ិស្លាម) តាមវិហារអ៊ិស្លាមរៀងៗខ្លួន ទូទាំងប្រទេស ដល់វីរកងទ័ពខ្មែរអ៊ិស្លាម ទីន រ៉សេត ហៅ ប្រាក់ ពិសិដ្ឋ ដែលបានពលីនៅសមរភូមិមុខ ប្រឆាំងនិងការឈ្លានពានពីបច្ចាមិត្តក្រោយថ្វាយបង្គំថ្ងៃសុក្រនាថ្ងៃនេះ។
គណៈអ៊ីម៉ាំម៉ាស្ជិតភូមិឈើទាលភ្លោះ ស្រុកឆ្លូង ខេត្តក្រចេះ បានរៀបចំដូចគ្នានៅក្នុងស្រុកកំណើតរបស់វីរកងទ័ពខ្មែរអ៊ិស្លាម។ លោកក៏បានស្នើសុំឱ្យរៀបចំឱ្យបានអធិកអធម និងស្នើសុំឱ្យអ្នកភូមិព្រែក សាម៉ាន់ទាំងអស់ចូលរួមថ្វាយបង្គំឱ្យបានច្រើនកុះករ ដើម្បីជាការលើកកិត្តិយស និងសុំពីអល់ឡោះជាម្ចាស់ទទួលយកអាម៉ាល់ (ផលបុណ្យ) និងម៉ាអាហ្វទូសា ( អភ័យទោស) ដល់វីរកងទ័ពពលីខ្មែរអ៊ិស្លាម និងសុំបញ្ចូលគាត់ក្នុងឋានសួគ៌។
នៅក្នុងជំនឿសាសនាអ៊ិស្លាម ការស្លាប់នៅក្នុងសមរភូមិដើម្បីការពារប្រទេស ឬជាងនេះទៅទៀត «ក្នុងបុព្វហេតុអល់ឡោះ» ត្រូវបានចាត់ទុកថាជាទុក្ករកម្ម (សាហីដ)។
ការលះបង់នេះនាំមកនូវបុណ្យកុសល្យសាសនាយ៉ាងច្រើន ដោយទទួលបានការលើកលែងទោសនិងការប្រទានពរពីព្រះ និងកន្លែងពិសេសនៅក្នុងឋានសួគ៌។
លីណា នៅតែមិនទាន់អស់ចិត្តដោយសារសាកសពប្តីរបស់គាត់មិនទាន់រកឃើញនៅឡើយ។ ទោះជាយ៉ាងណា គាត់ហៅប្តីរបស់គាត់ថា ជាវីរជនការពារជាតិ។ «បណ្តាំចុងក្រោយរបស់គាត់នៅតែដក់ជាប់ក្នុងចិត្តរបស់ខ្ញុំមិនអាចបំភ្លេចបាន។ គាត់និយាយថា ‘ប្រសិនបើបងលែងមានជីវិតរស់នៅ សូមអូនមើលថែខ្លួនឯងនិងកូនៗរបស់យើង។ បងត្រូវការពារជាតិពីការឈ្លានពានរបស់សត្រូវ។ អូននិងកូនគួរជន្លៀសទៅរកកន្លែងមានសុវត្ថិភាព ពីព្រោះការប្រយុទ្ធគ្នាលើកនេះគឺខ្លាំងជាងលើកឆ្នាំ២០០៨»។
រ៉សេត គឺជាវីរជនម្នាក់ក្នុងចំណោមវីរជនកម្ពុជាជាច្រើនរូបដែលបានលះបង់ជីវិតដើម្បីការពារជាតិ។ សូមឲ្យភាពអង់អាចក្លាហាននិងការលះបង់របស់ទាហានកម្ពុជាទាំងអស់ស្ថិតក្នុងការចងចាំរបស់យើងរៀងរហូត ហើយការលះបង់នេះជួយលើកទឹកចិត្តកងទ័ពកម្ពុជាឲ្យយកឈ្នះលើសត្រូវគ្រប់ទីកន្លែងនិងគ្រប់ពេលវេលា និងសូមឲ្យប្រទេសកម្ពុជាមានសន្តិភាពពិតប្រាកដក្នុងពេលឆាប់ៗ។
