Anlong Veng Peace Center hosted a visit by Matthew Wheeler, a senior analyst, South East Asia, Crisis Group, the international conflict prevention organization. Crisis Group has offices in Bogota, Brussels, Dakar, Istanbul, London, Nairobi, New York and Washington, DC. and has a presence in more than 25 different locations in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americans.
Matthew came to Anlong Veng at around 11:30 on February 11, 2026 to meet with our Center’s colleagues. Then he was brought to Ta Mok’s former house or museum to see our permanent exhibition, Son Sen’s cremation site, and Ta Mok’s stupa. Matthew also had the opportunity to talk to two women in Srah Chhouk village. The discussion lasted about 10 minutes before heading for a villager’s house that was hit by an artillery. The unexploded artillery was still stuck in a nearby pond. It is to recall that Thai military launched an aggression on Cambodian territory between 7 and 27 December 2025. The visit wrapped up at around 3:00 pm.
