CLASSROOM FORUM ON THE IMPORTANCE OF STUDYING A HISTORY OF DEMOCRATIC KAMPUCHEA (1975-1979)
DC-Cam’s Classroom Forum, an initiative highlighting the importance of studying Democratic Kampuchea’s history (1975–1979), has been active since 2015. On June 12, 2025, the Prey Veng Documentation Center hosted the forum with 29 Grade 11 students from Hun Sen Kampong Leav High School in Prey Veng Province. As in previous sessions, the forum allowed students to engage in in-depth discussions, ask questions about Khmer Rouge history, and deepen their understanding of this critical period.
Pheng Pong-Rasy, Director of the Prey Veng Documentation Center, began by assessing the students’ prior knowledge of Khmer Rouge history through a knowledge survey. The results revealed that most students had limited familiarity with the subject, underscoring the need for further education. With this in mind, Rasy proceeded to teach the eight key principles of the Khmer Rouge—ideological foundations that contributed to the Cambodian genocide (April 17, 1975–January 6, 1979).
Following detailed explanations of each principle, most students demonstrated a stronger grasp of the historical context and expressed commitment to further research in preparation for their high school graduation exams next year.
Notably, the history teacher at Hun Sen Kampong Leav High School actively encourages students to study Khmer Rouge history at the Prey Veng Documentation Center. There, they explore:
– a permanent photo exhibition on Khmer Rouge leaders, their regime, and Cambodia’s path to peace.
– Historical documents and books on the Khmer Rouge era.
– Documentary films depicting life under the regime and related historical events.
– Interactive discussions to address questions about this period.
– Classroom forums emphasizing the importance of studying Khmer Rouge history.
វេទិកាថ្នាក់រៀនស្តីពីការសិក្សាប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហម រៀបចំដោយមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលឯកសារកម្ពុជា បានចាប់ផ្តើមដំបូងនៅឆ្នាំ២០១៥។ នៅព្រឹកថ្ងៃទី១២ ខែមិថុនា ឆ្នាំ២០២៥នេះ មណ្ឌលឯកសារកម្ពុជា សាខាខេត្តព្រៃវែង បានអនុវត្តកម្មវិធីវេទិកាថ្នាក់រៀនជាមួយសិស្សានុសិស្សដែលកំពុងសិក្សានៅថ្នាក់ទី១១ នៃវិទ្យាល័យ ហ៊ុន សែន កំពង់លាវ ខេត្តព្រៃវែង ចំនួន២៩នាក់ តាមការស្នើសុំរបស់អ្នកគ្រូបង្រៀនប្រវត្តិវិទ្យានៅវិទ្យាល័យនេះ។ ដូចសព្វមួយដង វេទិកានេះតែងផ្តល់ឱកាសដល់សិស្សនូវការពិភាក្សាស៊ីជម្រៅ និងដំណោះស្រាយគ្រប់ចម្ងល់របស់សិស្សអំពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហម ដើម្បីបម្រើដល់ការចងចាំ និងចំណេះដឹងពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រនេះកាន់តែប្រសើរឡើង។
ផេង ពង្សរ៉ាស៊ី នាយកមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលឯកសារកម្ពុជាខេត្តព្រៃវែង បានពិភាក្សាពីចំណេះដឹងពីមុន និងបានស្វែងយល់ពីកម្រិតនៃការយល់ដឹងពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហមរបស់សិស្ស មុននឹងឈានដល់ការបង្រៀនពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រនេះ។ តាមរយៈការស្ទាបស្ទង់ចំណេះដឹង រ៉ាស៊ី បានដឹងថា សិស្សភាគច្រើនមានចំណេះដឹងពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហមតិចតួចនៅឡើយ ហើយអ្នកទាំងនោះត្រូវការការបង្រៀនបន្ថែមពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រនេះ។ ដោយមានគោលបំណងច្បាស់លាស រ៉ាស៊ី បានចាប់ផ្តើមការប្រៀនរបស់ខ្លួនពីគោលការណ៍៨ចំណុចរបស់ខ្មែរក្រហម ដែលជាគន្លឹះនៃការដឹកនាំប្រទេសរបស់ខ្មែរក្រហមឈានទៅរកការប្រព្រឹត្តអំពើប្រល័យពូជសាសន៍នៅកម្ពុជាក្នុងចន្លោះថ្ងៃ១៧ មេសា ១៩៧៥ ដល់ថ្ងៃ៦ មករា ១៩៧៩។
ក្រោយការពន្យល់លម្អិតពីចំណុចនីមួយៗ សិស្សភាគច្រើនបានបង្ហាញពីចំណេះដឹងកើនឡើងរបស់ខ្លួនលើមាតិកាប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រ និងបានសន្យាថា នឹងខិតខំរៀនសូត្រ និងស្រាវជ្រាវពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រនេះបន្ថែមទៀត ដើម្បីត្រៀមខ្លួនចូលរួមប្រឡងបញ្ចប់សាលាមធ្យមសិក្សាទុតិយភូមិនៅឆ្នាំខាងមុខ។
សូមបញ្ជាក់ថា គ្រូបង្រៀនប្រវត្តិវិទ្យានៅវិទ្យាល័យ ហ៊ុន សែន កំពង់លាវ តែងតែបំផុសសិស្សដែលគាត់កំពុងបង្រៀន ឲ្យធ្វើការស្រាវជ្រាវ និងរៀនសូត្រពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហម នៅមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលឯកសារកម្ពុជាខេត្តព្រៃវែង។ នៅការិយាល័យមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលឯកសារកម្ពុជាខេត្តព្រៃវែង សិស្សានុសិស្សទាំងនោះ នឹងទទួលបានការពន្យល់ណែនាំពីផ្ទាំងរូបថតពិព័រណ៍អចិន្ត្រៃយ៍ស្តីពីមេដឹកនាំ និងរបបខ្មែរក្រហម ព្រមទាំងដំណើរឆ្ពោះទៅការកសាងសន្តិភាពនៅកម្ពុជា, ការអានឯកសារ និងសៀវភៅស្តីពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហម, ការទស្សនាខ្សែវីដេអូឯកសារស្តីពីបទពិសោធន៍ជីវិតឆ្លងកាត់របបខ្មែរក្រហម និងដំណើររឿងរ៉ាវនៅមុន និងក្នុងរបបខ្មែរក្រហម, ការពិភាក្សា និងដោះស្រាយចម្ងល់ពីប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហម និងការចូលរួមនៅក្នុងវេទិកាថ្នាក់រៀនស្តីពីសារសំខាន់នៃការសិក្សាប្រវត្តិសាស្ត្រខ្មែរក្រហម។
