The 2005 legal
training focused this year on “Criminal Defense before the upcoming
Khmer Rouge Tribunal (KRT)”. DC-Cam hosted several North American and
Canadian law students who served as legal associates. DC-Cam
also invited a number of local and international guest lecturers.
The training course dates were July 11-22, August 15-26 and
September 19-30, 2005. Each two-week
course dealt with different aspects of international criminal law and
criminal defense relevant to the upcoming tribunal in
Cambodia, as follows:

role of the defense counsel before the KRT
§ Potential
challenges for defense counsel before the KRT

and duties of defense counsel before the KRT
